It’s been a while since I’ve done a Food Challenge on the blog. Remember those? Last one was March, when I made polenta for the first time.
I was gazing into my pantry this morning, and a big bag of lentils caught my eye. It’s been there for months. In fact, I can’t even remember where they came from – surely I didn’t buy them, considering I’ve never cooked with them before.
Yup, that’s right – I’ve never cooked with lentils, which means they’re a prime target for a Food Challenge.
I love eating lentils in soup that other people make, but my family? They’re not big soup eaters – except for Cheesy Potato Soup, which is super addictive, and easy to make.
But back to lentils. Aside from soup, I’m not sure I know of a great way to cook with them. Is soup the best option? If so, I may have to have a lentil soup party and not invite my family. Hmmmm….
Here’s where you come in. I want you to tell me your favorite way to cook lentils! Here’s what I have to work with:
You can leave me a note below with your suggestions, or you can comment on the Facebook page or send me a tweet! In about a week I’ll compile all the choices into a Facebook poll, and voting will commence. I’ll look to make my lentil concoction by the end of October.
Thank you for participating!
Lentil burgers….oh they are so yummy! topped with cheese an avocado, and a tomato!
Oh – interesting idea! I love cheese and avocado on a burger too!
I love Indian dishes with lentils. I also have a bag in my pantry. I love them, the trick will be converting the husband!
Lentil burgers IS a great idea. Dal is a great Indian dish with lentils. Or you could do a lentil salad of some kind. I will have to come over for this challenge. Obviously.
i love lentils but like you i rarely cook them myself. i am trying to look for a good lentil soup to try. also i made a lentil salad recently on my blog: http://lachapstickfanatique.blogspot.com/2011/06/french-green-lentil-salad.html
