I love seafood. It’s hard not to, living on the east coast in Maryland, the home of the blue crab.
Growing up, my family spent two weeks each summer on the New England coast – Connecticut’s Groton Long Point to be exact. My grandparents bought a little bungalow there in the 1960’s, and over a couple decades they transformed it (through several additions) into a large shore-house worthy of Ina Garten and her beloved Hamptons.
Our shore-house was sold several years ago, but I still have strong memories of eating fresh lobster, steamers and homemade clams casino every August. Those summers helped to shape my young seafood palate!
Over the next week, I’ve asked some of my blogging friends to share their childhood “foodie” vacation memories, and I (for one) am looking forward to what they have to share!
I love the picture. I was 9 at that point in 1983.
This brings back precious memories. I like the sense of nostalgia.
