The Magnum (ice cream bar)

“First thing that pops in your head when you hear the words ‘MAGNUM® ICE CREAM BAR.’ Ready? GO!”

The answers varied.

“So happy these are finally in the States!” to “It wasn’t ice cream!” and “I thought the same thing! Condom, right?”

Hm.

Funny story: My sister and I were in the grocery store a few weeks back, and came across a sign reading ‘BRAND NEW!! Magnum® ice cream bars!’

We both glanced at the sign. Stared for a minute. Looked back at each other and said, “I’m not so sure about the name of that ice cream bar.”

The next week, I received an option to try the new Magnum® ice cream bars as part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program.

I had to call my sister, like, immediately. She thought I was trying to be funny, “You’re kidding – right?”

“NO. I’m serious!”

Last night? I tried a Magnum® for the first time. Double Chocolate.

All joking aside, this ice cream bar is NO JOKE. 

Rich chocolaty velvet ice cream inside, with a gooey luxurious chocolate sauce layer between the ice cream and the hard Belgian chocolate candy shell.

Honestly? I would have been satisfied – no, satiated – with a Magnum® bar half its size. It doesn’t take much to cure my sweet tooth cravings. I considered for a moment, wrapping the bar mid-way through so that I’d have six servings instead of three. But nope. I ate the whole thing.

And it was 10 minutes of decadent, delicious, coma-inducing dessert heaven.

Just make sure to eat a light dinner before grabbing one of a Magnum®. Or no dinner. Or no lunch and dinner.

You know what would be perfect? Paying the same price (just under $4 for the box of three bars), but instead getting a dozen two-bite mini bars. Maybe the ‘Mini-Magnum®‘ already exists in the rest of the world, but since the US was one of the last countries to have the pleasure of enjoying the Magnum® ice cream bar, we just haven’t seen it yet.
