Late spring and early summer have some of the best weather — the perfect setting for a summer party with good friends and these easy S’mores made right in the campfire or your oven!
When we lived in Maryland, our house was on a few acres of land, peppered with really tall black walnut trees. At dusk, the fireflies come out in droves, lighting up the grassy slope beyond our backyard, flashing their glowing lights in-between the lengthy trunks.
The thing is though, making a ton of S’mores for a summer party can be tricky, especially when you’re outside and it’s dark.
I’ve found an alternative way to make ooey-gooey S’mores on the campfire, with minimal mess, in under 10 minutes.
Easy S’mores in 10 Minutes
First up, I grab aluminum foil and cut it into rectangular strips, about six inches wide. Then I lay out all the ingredients, which include graham squares, milk chocolate, and large S’moreMallows (yep, they’re a thing!).
Then I create S’mores foil PACKETS, assembly-line style: strip of foil, graham square, marshmallow, chocolate, graham square.
Each gets wrapped up tight in its own foil packet.
At this point, you can set the packets aside until your guests arrive, or until the campfire gets crankin’. (Or both.) It’s a quick, easy solution for summertime: weeknight meals, get-togethers, BBQs, a summer party. You name it.
When you and the campfire are ready, toss the packets directly on the fire, or set the packets in cast iron skillets and then place those on the fire. This is what I do.
Five minutes in a really hot campfire is all it takes to produce amazingly delicious individual S’mores packets, perfectly proportioned for your guests. Who doesn’t love individual packets of anything … especially dessert, right??
That being said, you don’t always need a campfire for S’mores! If the weather’s bad, or you’re just feeling lazy, simply put the packets into a preheated 400°F oven for 5 minutes. DONE.
