I come from a family with a number of working mothers. More who worked while raising kids than not, even when it wasn’t the norm. My own mom, my aunt, my grandmother, and a slew of other great aunts, cousins, and other female relatives mixed in between.
It’s shaped who I am today, and the work-life balance I keep; I’m sure of it. It’s the idea that it’s possible and reasonable to work full time outside the home, and also enjoy motherhood and the things that go along with raising a family.
Like, dance competitions, soccer games, weekend afternoons at the movies, bus stop pick-up, and (my favorite) home cooked meals.
Somehow, amidst all the chaos, and with a busy work schedule, I’m able to not only enjoy my kids’ activities, but also make dinner almost every night.
Pasta’s a favorite.
But, just because I make a “home cooked” meal, doesn’t mean I’m always making everything from scratch. Including pasta sauce.
HA!
No. Sometimes dinner is “home cooked” by opening a jar of pasta sauce (preferably organic) and adding a protein (like sausage) and a side of salad and crusty bread (YUM!) and then diving in, fork first.
Easy dinners like these are how the women (and men!) in my life showed that it’s possible to put good tasting, home cooked food in front of the family, even on a busy weeknight.
Ragu Organic Traditional is yummy, layered in flavor and made with care today — just the way Assunta Cantisano first crafted her sauce (based on an old family recipe), over 60 years ago in Rochester, NY. It’s the way her mom and grandmother taught her.
It’s simmered in tradition.
Ragu has a great story. Discover theirs and honor your own family traditions!
Reasons to believe in Assunta, her sauce and her story:
• Her Italian heritage
• Ragu’s commitment to Assunta’s high standards
• The process: stemming from a family recipe; slowly simmered to add layers of flavor
• No. No. No. (no artificial flavors, no artificial flavors, no high fructose corn syrup)
• Farm grown ingredients
• Affordability

I appreciate seeing how you use pre-made sauce to make cooking easier. Making everything from scratch all the time is not realistic.
I agree! Even though I do love making things from scratch, it’s not always a possibility, and jarred sauce is a great alternative. 🙂
i agree that it isn’t always possible to make a homemade sauce – thanks for the ideas!
