Good/Bad/Fab – LFC

Last updated on September 3, 2010 by Liza Hawkins

Today my friend at Mommy’s Still Fabulous challenged her readers to follow suit and write about the Good/Bad/Fab of their weeks. Here’s my take on the Good/Bad/Fab….

GOOD
Recently I wrote about being selected for Leadership Frederick County (LFC), class of 2011. The term kicked off the other night with a meet & greet held in downtown Frederick at the Cultural Arts Center, where we not only met the other 30 Fredericktonians selected for the 2011 class, we also found out what community projects we’d be working on throughout the next nine months. It was a lot to take in, but it made me excited for the upcoming months’ events!

Oh, and one more thing…. The event was catered by Canapés. YESssssss! Here’s a small glimpse of the yumminess we had to choose from:

Spring Rolls
Desserts
Bread & Crostini Selection
BAD
I forgot to throw my camera in my purse, and the poor BlackBerry phone camera doesn’t do this food justice. It was delicious and beautiful! AND, I only got to sample a few things because I spent so much time networking. In my head I was thinking…food…networking…food…networking. I made the right choice, despite missing out on 3/4 of the hors d’oeurvres. I’ll tell ya though, there’s nothing like getting people in a good mood by serving them good food! Looking forward to the rest of the meetings to see if we get Canapés-caliber food every time!

FAB
There’s only a few hours left between me and a long weekend! Woo-hoo!

Hi, I'm Liza — a self-proclaimed word-nerd who loves getting lost in whimsical stories and epic movies. I have laid-back, practical attitude towards life and am always on the hunt for good eats, easy recipes, binge-worthy shows, relaxing road trip destinations, the perfect fizzy gin cocktail, and time to finish my novel!

  1. Thanks for playing along!

So, this leadership council… is it like a year-long appointment with rotating members? It sounds like a great idea!

Oh and the food STILL looked amazing even with your blackberry camera!

  2. It’s a 9-month commitment for selected applicants, and those that have been through the program are called “alumni” and they still continue (in most cases) to serve the community in some form or another – volunteerism, politics, etc. It was created through our Frederick Chamber of Commerce, and it’s been around for years & years.

I joke about the BB camera, but in a lot of cases it takes better photos than my old point & shoot. LOL!

Had a lot of fun with good/bad/fab!
