Musings: Food Coma

Last updated on October 10, 2010 by Liza Hawkins

Imagine, if you will: Buffet lunch (including fried chicken and isle upon isle of other assorted indulgences), strangely warm October afternoon, full bellies, and 35 classmates from my LFC class of 2010-2011 basking in the soothing sunshine waiting for the last portion of our two day retreat to commence.

Can you say, “Food coma?”

(Found this “food coma” photo at a cool travel blog.)
After a brief exchange of, “Boy, I sure could use a nap,” and, “My eyelids are droopy,” interspersed with casual conversation, we all came to the conclusion (as I’m sure you have before too) that the United States is behind the times with the whole vacation, siesta, time-off, quality of life thing. How nice would be to enjoy a leisurely lunch with friends, followed by a period of time where you can digest, reflect, converse, nap, relax, or whatever makes you feel good?

Just a simple thought for this morning; it would be sublime.

Hi, I'm Liza — a self-proclaimed word-nerd who loves getting lost in whimsical stories and epic movies. I have laid-back, practical attitude towards life and am always on the hunt for good eats, easy recipes, binge-worthy shows, relaxing road trip destinations, the perfect fizzy gin cocktail, and time to finish my novel!
