Out and About: Rocky Gap

Last updated on October 19, 2010 by Liza Hawkins

If you’ve never been to Rocky Gap Lodge, you’re missing out – especially this time of year when the leaves are starting to change. The mountains surrounding the lodge look like an impressionist painting, sprinkled with oranges, browns and shades of gold.

The menu at Lakeside Restaurant, one of two onsite dining options, has a wide range of options, ranging from mushroom ravioli to filet mignon – and an absolutely spectacular view of the lake against the mountain slope. Think Dirty Dancing meets The Shining (without the crazy Jack Nicholson, or redrum….). How about some photos….

  1. My family and I have been here three years in a row now and never leave dissatisfied. One of my favorite “foodie” elements of this place, is the bar in the lounge. The floor of the area where the bartender sits and where the bottles are, are actually lowered than usual, so you have a great view, unobstructed view when you sit in the lounge chairs. Great way to wind down a day!

  2. You are absolutely right – that bar is sitting low, and doesn’t impact the view at all. Makes sitting at the bar much more pleasant when you have a view like that!
