October is National Cookie Month, so I can hardly start the month off right without sharing some of my favorite homemade cookies recipes that I’ve baked over the years!
Last year I stopped buying cookies at the store (initially to my kids’ dismay), because I realized some things:
- Baking cookies at home is crazy simple. Most recipes are mixed, baked and cooled in under 30 minutes!
- Understanding ingredients and being able to pronounce them is important. Ever looked at the list of items that make up your typical store-bought chocolate chip cookie?
- COOKIE DOUGH.
- Smelling cookies baking in the oven is sooooo comforting.
- My kids like them better.
Every weekend I bake one batch of cookies (usually two dozen) that lasts our family of four through the week, sometimes longer (although my husband doesn’t really eat any). They stay in an airtight cookie jar on the counter, and the kids have one in each of their lunches, and after dinner – if they want.
