When Bonefish Grill in Frederick burst onto the scene a while back, people were excited. Like, ECSTATIC.
At the time, I’d never heard of the restaurant, which seems crazy now. I mean, Bonefish Grill is everywhere! Only those of you who live under a rock are like, “Bonefish, huh?” even if you’ve never set foot in one.
Because, Bang Bang Shrimp®, right?
Regardless, the place is always packed, and there’s a reason for it.
This fall, Bonefish Grill unveiled a fall menu with all kinds of interesting and festive options, like Pumpkin Ravioli and Fall Apple Martini. (Note: the cocktails at Bonefish Grill are definitely worth a try, even if you’re usually a wine or beer drinker.)
And in Frederick, they’ve updated more than the menu—the interior’s been revitalized to further make it relaxing and comfortable, but also sleek and modern.
Aside from the fact that a dim, cozy setting doesn’t allow for great Instagram shots of food (#foodbloggerproblems), I love the warm ambiance there that comes with lower lights and comfy booths.
4 Reasons To Revisit Bonefish Grill In Frederick
1. Bang Bang Shrimp
It may seem like I’m making an unnecessary fuss over Bang Bang Shrimp. I promise you; I’m not. There has never been a time where I’ve visited Bonefish Grill and not ordered them. They’re the perfect precursor to an entree, and are an absolute delight as a happy hour nosh. Crispy and tender, coated generously in that sticky-sweet, slightly spicy, sauce, I really could make an entire meal out of them. (AND, if you order the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, you easily can!)
2. Cocktails
Bonefish Grill offers up a large cocktail menu to complement its entrees. Whether you’re looking for a classic Cosmopolitan, or something seasonal and festive like the Fall Apple Martini, they’ve got you covered. On my recent visit, I had the Fresh Pear Martini, made with freshly muddled pears, Absolut Pears vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, and fresh lemon juice; garnished with a fun edible flower—YUM!
And my sister-in-law had The Mule, a take on Moscow Mule, made with Grey Goose, fresh lime, house-made ginger syrup, and ginger beer. Finished in a rustic copper mug with crushed ice, fresh mint, candied ginger. She’s a fan!
3. Mood
Like I said earlier, I’m a big fan of a dark and cozy restaurant. It makes me feel relaxed, which makes eating and chatting with friends all the more enjoyable. Bonefish Grill in Frederick has managed to pull off marrying a modern, sleek vibe with a rich and comfortable decor. If I have my choice, I always pick a booth in the bar area. They’re huge, so there’s plenty of room to fit six adults with room to spare, the cushions are soft, and you feel a little less out-in-the-open.
And you’re right next to this really cool floor-to-ceiling wine wall that separates the bar seating from the dining room. What’s not to love about that?
4. The Menu
Bonefish Grill has a solid menu with time-tested favorites (like those Bang Bang Shrimp, right?). I love that even though it’s a chain restaurant, there are still specials that include seasonal options like Swordfish and Pumpkin Ravioli or Pumpkin Crème Brûlée.
And even though seafood is their jam, there are lots of options on the Bonefish Grill menu for folks who prefer turf over surf, like wood-fired steaks and chops.
If you haven’t been in a while (or you’re looking for an excuse to eat out) now’s the time to revisit Bonefish Grill in Frederick!
Note: Bonefish Grill gave me a gift card and invited me to dine at their Frederick, Md., location to check out the fall menu and enjoy their updated decor. I happily and hungrily accepted the offer; all opinions are mine.
